Neighborhood Solution
We are proposing a neighborhood wide solution. This solution is to help inform students about what is going into their food and what they are eating. The solution is to have a unit during health class all about teaching students about nutrition and what is good and bad for you in our food. The unit would go over how to read a food label, what amounts of certain substances is good and bad for your body (fructose and other additives and preservatives), what some of the unknown ingredients are.
If students have taken their required health classes, then schools may offer an after school course.
The after school course could be promoted by local newspapers and local TV stations and programs that are promoted by the schools. Student groups in schools could help spread the word of the classes.

National Solution
We are proposing and elaborating on a solution involving the whole United States. The solution is to make consumers more aware of what they are eating at a restaurant of any type. For example, bars, fast food chains, diners, drive ins, and restaurants in general. The proposition is that every single food item being sold must have all nutrition content and calories listed for the consumer to easily see.
This new law would be applied to menu boards and also handout menus. The current law signed by Obama states that every restaurant with 20 or more locations must follow this law. We propose that this law should take effect in every restaurant regardless of number of locations.
These small businesses (less than 20 restaurant locations) could work with the Department of Health to get the correct and necessary information listed.

International Solution
We are proposing a worldwide solution that deals with farming crops. The solution is to try to reduce the amount of monocultures around the world. This solution is mainly targeted at increasing the health of people and the environment. Monocultures just help the farmers and businesses by producing more yield, and in return give the land a greater chance of failure and reduce the nutritional value in food (see environmental tab)
The World Health Organization could check and keep in touch with smaller businesses that run the farms. The WHO would make sure some of these businesses aren't using monocultures to help keep consumers and the environment healthier.
